Once Upon a Time...
This is one of my favourite images from edition one of Rhyme With Reason: Noah’s Ark. It goes along with the poem The Swan. This piece is the song of the ugly duckling when it discovers in joyous surprise that the mirror of the lake has beautiful things to say. I decided to do cave-art style illustrations for this book and to get the effect I wanted I did simple line drawings with a black marker … and then … got stumped. Oh dear! How to get them to look like cave art? I happened to chat with my graphic artist friend, Kelvin, who kindly offered to edit my illustrations for me. Thank you Kelvin and thank you God!
